CWF/DISCIPLES WOMEN NEWSLETTER

"The Wright Word"

GREETINGS -- my Sisters in Christ.  I do hope that you are

having a good start to your summer.  It is my hope that you

will be able to enjoy some time of relaxation and time to

be with your family and loved ones.  The spring was exciting

for the workshop team, as we traveled the Region

introducing our New Day materials and offering new ideas to be used with your Women's Ministries in your local

congregations.

PRAYER CONCERNS -- of the CWF/DW Cabinet.  The

mother of Brenda Matkin, Study Director, underwent heart

surgery in early May.  The mother-in-law of President Kathy

Mason was moved to an assisted living facility in late April

and was in the hospital shortly after this transition.

Please keep the cares and concerns of Brenda and Kathy

in your prayers.

CONGRATULATIONS -- to Diane Wood, Huntsville, First,

who has completed her studies at Lexington Theological

Seminary and will be ordained on June 1.  Diane was one of the Seminary Women receiving scholarship funds from the

CWF/DW  Regional Project during the past three years.

Effective July 1 Diane has received a call to serve as staff for

Young Adult Ministries

 in  the Alabama-Northwest Florida Region.

WOMAN TO WOMAN WORLDWIDE EXPERIENCE -

will take place from September 28-October 10, 2008.  We will again

have a representative on this experience.  Brenda

Matkin, Huntsville, First, will represent our Region on this

trip to Israel and Palestine.  Please keep Brenda in your

prayers, as she prepares for this experience.  We look

forward to Brenda being able to share this experience with us upon her return.

"CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?" - Discerning God's Voice - is the theme of the 2008 Women's Fall Retreat.  This event is

scheduled for October 3-5 at YMCA Hargis Retreat,

Chelsea, AL.  The event will be resourced by Rev. Betty

Brewer-Calvert, Director of Women's Ministries in the

Georgia Region.  Rev. Brewer-Calvert comes from a deep

rooted Disciples background.  The co-directors of the

Retreat are Cindy Prince, Madison, and Katie

Jennings, Valhermosa Springs.  The early bird registration

is $100; after September 20, the fee is $110.  The daily

rate is $45 plus cost of each meal.  More information

will be forthcoming regarding this event.

Please watch for this information which will come to past

attendees and to your local congregation.
